Rosary Making Ministry

Rosary Making

A devoted group has returned in June 2026 to the ministry of Rosary Making–held on Mondays beginning at 6 pm at the Parish Center. Currently, the rosaries once made, are blessed by our pastor Fr. Joseph Pasala and placed at the main entrances of our Churches to take free of charge.

All who are interested in making rosaries for distribution are invited to attend. Training is provided on site, and there will be a minimal cost for supplies, plastic or wooden beads. The intent of this ministry is to promote and restore family prayer, world unity and peace.

It is said that the family that prays together stays together and that the benefits of the family rosary are only second to family Mass attendance. Prayer today is so desperately needed and your assistance in making such an essential tool would be greatly

Making a rosary (or rosaries) is seen as a labor of love and devotion to Jesus, through Mary. The rosary is a powerful and cherished prayer tool for Catholics around the world. Comprising prayers and meditation, it is a spiritual practice with a rich history rooted in miracles and apparitions; it serves as a tangible connection to the Virgin Mary and has played a vital role in Catholic spirituality for centuries.

The History of the Rosary. The rosary traces its origins back to the early Christian era, where it began as a way to keep track of prayers. Early Christians would use beads or pebbles to count their prayers, a practice that evolved into the rosary we know today. Saint Dominic, a Spanish priest and founder of the Dominican Order, is often credited with the development of the rosary in its current form. The story goes that in the 13th century, the Virgin Mary appeared to Saint Dominic and instructed him to use the rosary as a tool to combat heresy.

Marian Apparitions requesting the Rosary be prayed.
Akita, Japan (1973): Our Lady warns Sr. Agnes that we ought to “Pray very much the prayers of the Rosary.”
Fatima (1917): The Blessed Virgin revealed herself as “Our Lady of the Rosary” and requested frequent recitation of it.
Lourdes (1858): Our Lady was holding a Rosary in her first apparition. The first thing she said to Bernadette was a request that Bernadette pray her Rosary. They later prayed it together.
Miraculous Medal (1830): On Mary’s first apparition to St. Catherine Labouré, before she even brought up the Miraculous Medal, she bemoaned the fact the Rosary wasn’t prayed more often.

Historical Miracles.
The Battle of Lepanto (1571): A vastly outnumbered Christian fleet defeated the Ottoman Empire’s navy after Pope St. Pius V called upon all of Europe to pray the Rosary. The victory saved Christian Europe, leading the Pope to establish the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary.
The Atomic Bomb Survivors of Hiroshima (1945): Eight Jesuit priests survived the atomic blast in Hiroshima, living within blocks of ground zero with minimal long-term radiation effects. They attributed their survival to daily praying of the Rosary.
Austria’s Liberation (1955): Father Petrus Pavlicek led a massive Rosary Crusade after World War II. Miraculously, occupying Soviet troops unexpectedly signed a treaty and withdrew from Austria without bloodshed, which participants credited to the continuous prayers.
